Enthralled, Yet Puzzled.
It is difficult to use words to describe this masterpiece. I am no musicologist, but I feel it safe to speculate that the discussions and debates as to what Gershwin created continue to this day. What puzzles me is the relatively sparse number of downloads and reviews for this rendition compared to the '24 acoustic recording. There is no doubt that is the crown jewel in so many respects. Perhaps it is because this 'cleaner' version sounds more like current recordings which are pretty much clones. No affront to those involved for they do what properly trained musicians do: follow the score, especially in cases such as this. Yet this recording still has the 'Master's Touch' indelibly stamped upon it. And like the '24 version, I believe that his mere presence during the session inspired and extracted that 'more' out of the others(perhaps to a slightly lesser extent). Nevertheless, this recording is special insofar as it is a sort of 'transitionary' piece to the modern versions. And like all versions, ever enthralling! I fancy seeing George at the keys, stogie tightly clenched, and not a single page of sheet music before him. BRAVO!!

this is a must
I love "Rhapsody in Blue" dearly, and this is the best version of it! It's simply fantastic, I highly recommend it. The quality of sound is very good too.
